So, new Britney video breakdown in my eyes.
The beginning: she hit the earth like a meteor. Her career was the start of something huge. Gaga was actually described the same way, with the meteor metaphor, by Kylie Minogue recently. This is an accurate comparison to describe when a huge superstar hits the scene.
She is then on the set of a music video, becoming a celebrity and dolling herself up and becoming the Britney we all know and love. Her popularity then begins to rise and rise, as does she in her dress going up the column of televisions playing her videos. This was a nice retrospection of her career; certainly a nice way to show her inflating and getting bigger and bigger, just like her pop star status did.
She then fell in love, noted by the guy’s picture that she finds on that website. Unfortunately that led to her downfall. (Sad) Her personal struggle is then shown by her fighting with herself. A not too original way to put it but was definitely a great and affective scene.
Also, her surrounded by the microphone wreath obviously signifies the media holding up all the mics and cameras to her to get her to talk. They always wanted her in the press, and she was twitching and kind of acting a bit nuts..clearly she was on the verge of a breakdown. That wicked smile which I love before she destroys everything with the colorful paint is displayed when she finally “cracked”, and then goes on to fuck things up.
She has the breakdown, just like she did in the media right before our eyes. She ruins her big white pure dress and everything around her (the television screens which display her work, she ruined her career. I’m sure you guys got that)
Finally she makes a comeback and rises from the ashes like the badass bitch she is, bringing us the final scene where she dances (not too much unfortunately) and there is fire bursting galore, maybe signifying the rise of a phoenix?
Sorry, just had to write all that. Liked the video a lot and thought the delivery of the message was really well executed. Will you hold it against me?
